Tony Karajanis, JD, LMFT
"Seeking therapy is an important step on your journey to promoting healthy change and positive growth in your life...My role is to guide you on that journey of re-connecting to your own potential and power so you can achieve positive change in yourself and your life."
In addition to being a Therapist, I am also an Attorney with over 20 years in legal practice. My experience as a lawyer provides an additional dimension to my work as a Therapist. I am comfortable working with intimate relational dynamics to achieve resolution and change. The ability to focus on your strengths, and your concerns, is the key to promoting growth.
What should you know about my session style?
My session style is conversational; I believe in starting with a shared narrative, a dialogue. This is where connection, trust, and rapport begin to build. Once established, authenticity, vulnerability, and the client’s reality are allowed to surface, thereby making space for deeper issues to flow within the session. This is my style.
How do my core values shape my views on therapy?
My father used to tell me, “You have to take EVERYTHING that happens to you in life and LEARN from it…your best lessons will come from your most difficult times and ‘failures.'” I believe this to be true. Life is a journey of personal growth, and there are always lessons to be learned from our experiences. This tenet is at the core of my work as a therapist: I work with the client based on their own experiences and assist in finding whatever will allow the client to tap into their greatest growth and potential.
What are my treatment approaches to therapy?
My approach to therapy is an “Integrated” style of the following therapeutic modalities:
Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic
General Systems/Systemic Theory
Experiential/Gestalt
“Self of the Therapist”
Bowenian/Transgenerational
Attachment & Emotionally Focused Theory
Post-Modern, including: Solution Focused; Collaborative & Narrative Therapies
IFS: Internal Family Systems
Sex Therapy & Sexual Positivity/Kink Allied
(A healthy sense of humor 😉)
My approach also encompasses an emotionally “parts-based” philosophy, that takes into account the complexities of our human nature and our emotional states of being.
